Carried on along the Holy Month, Qatar Youth Hostels Association to Hold Diverse Cultural and Spiritual Events

All around the Holy Month of Ramadan, many cultural and sports events,  exhibitions and contests are constantly held under the auspices of Qatar Youth Hostels (QYH) Association as part of its cultural program for the current year.

“The Ramadan activity flow this year is culturally diverse. The Association is launching a cultural contest throughout the Holy Month to stimulate young people to participate, search and find answers to the posed questions on the heritage and the national identity of Qatar by means of social networking”, said Mr. Ahmed Al Obaidli, a QYH Executive Board Member, “Through the questions, the Association can inspire legacy and the meanings of the archaic terminology on the crafts of our ancestors, recently heading towards obliteration due to modernity. Out of QYH dedication, this legacy must be restored and revived within its vision and mission to promote and renew the Qatari identity”.

According to Al Obeidli, the Mal Lawal Exhibition is scheduled at the QYH premises, in cooperation with the Department of Public Libraries and Heritage, Ministry of Culture and Sports (MSC), on Ramadan 12-13. Cultural legacy, ancient traditions and heritage collections of Ramadan followed by our ancestors, including Henna, Garangoa Night, ornaments, folk garments and cuisine, handicrafts, and heritage paintings, are planned in the Exhibition. The Association is very steadfast to promote and revive this legacy for the future generations of youth and children. Representatives of communities will also be invited to cope with the events of the Exhibition.

“A Ramadan Futsal Tournament is scheduled by the Association in Al Ahli club on Ramadan 9 -11”, mentioned Al Obeidli. “In addition, a soccer match is scheduled on Ramadan 4 at Al-Furqan Private School between the QYH Team and its residents and members”.

Under Nqsa Mn Fotorna (A Share of Our Ramadan Breakfast Meal), a pavilion in its tent  will also be allocated for the donation of Iftar meals. All Qataris are welcomed to donate portions of their food, juice or water. A bunch of QYH Young volunteers will deliver donations the premises on the weekends of the Holy Month.

Within the flow of QYH Ramadan activities, different in-kind gifts and presents will be collected for distribution to children and orphans under  the Eid Gift event, which will be proceeded on Ramadan 5-25.

The Holy Month, according to  Al Obeidli, involves many spiritualties; it is a month of all blessings, fruitful rewards and high recompense. All people of all ages and classes are welcomed to participate in these QYH events and activities for spiritual and physical advantages, rewards and recompenses all over the Holy Month.
