Volunteer Closing Ceremony

At a closing ceremony honoring trainees and volunteers, Abdullah Saeed tells Al-Arab: 235 participants in youth hostel tourism guidance programs Graduation of certified trainers from the deaf community for the first time in Qatar and the region Qatar Youth Hostels held the closing ceremony for its 2025 summer activities, under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and in the presence of His Excellency Engineer Yasser Al-Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and Mr. Omar Al-Jaber, Head of the Tourism Development Sector. The ceremony honored participants in the summer programs and camps, along with a select group of volunteers who contributed to the success of the activities. Mr. Abdullah Saeed, Head of Public Relations and Communication at Qatar Youth Hostels, told Al-Arab: “This summer marked a significant milestone in the center’s journey, with 18 male and female volunteers overseeing the implementation of 13 programs and camps, benefiting more than 235 participants.” Trainees from the deaf community, for the first edition... Mr. Omar Al-Jaber, Head of Tourism Development at Qatar Tourism, stated that the program was a true investment in the capabilities of young people who had the opportunity to explore various tourist and cultural sites and landmarks in the country, and to acquire skills that qualify them to work as professional ambassadors for Qatari tourism. Ms. Fatima Al-Sulaiti, Head of Programs and Events, explained that 2025 marked a significant achievement with the graduation of the first tour guides with hearing impairments, in addition to the graduates of the applied training program for managing summer activities, and the first edition of the Youth Tour Guide Program, which included 19 young men and women who received intensive training in tour guiding skills. Al-Sulaiti expressed her gratitude to the trainers and national partners who contributed to the success of the programs, including Qatar Tourism, Hamad Medical Corporation, the Ministry of Municipality, the Qatar Cultural Center for the Deaf, Qatar Red Crescent Society, the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, the Development Training Center, and the Future Leaders Program. She emphasized that these partnerships played a pivotal role in achieving the goals of the summer events. The ceremony also included honoring the graduates of the fourth edition of the Tourist Guiding Training Program, implemented in cooperation with Qatar Tourism. This marked the graduation of the first cohort of deaf tourist guides, a significant step reflecting the center's commitment to integrating all segments of society into the development process. Al-Sulaiti noted that this was the first time in Qatar and the region that deaf tourist guides and trainers had been certified. He expressed his hope for further development of the Qatar Youth Hostels Program in the coming period.
