A national field-based award to promote sustainable domestic tourism

Award Idea

This award is part of an innovative national field competition that aims to embed the concepts of sustainable domestic tourism among school students in the State of Qatar through an interactive educational experience that extends from the classroom to the real world. The award is based on actual field trips inside the country, linked to the Qatari history curriculum, which strengthens students' awareness of national identity, cultural heritage, and historical and tourism sites. It also encourages students to actively participate in planning and implementation, and to develop teamwork, decision-making, and responsibility skills while adhering to environmental and social sustainability standards, helping prepare a generation that values national resources and its role in preserving them for future generations.

Award Mission

Empowering school students to discover the State of Qatar through an innovative applied educational approach that connects academic knowledge with field experience, and strengthens values of sustainability, social responsibility, and collaborative work by engaging them in designing and implementing sustainable educational tourism initiatives inspired by Qatari history.

Target Group

Preparatory stage students in Qatari schools.

The competition is open to all public and private schools.

Participation Requirements

  • Organize actual field trips inside Qatar.
  • Trips must be linked to the Qatari history curriculum content.
  • Student participation in planning and implementation.
  • Include activities that promote the concept of sustainability.
  • Full documentation of activities and trips.

Required Documentation File

  • Plan of the trips and their educational objectives.
  • Photos from the trips and activities.
  • Certificates or impressions from participants.
  • Explanation of how the trips relate to the school curricula.
  • Highlight sustainability elements in planning and implementation.
