Your game is my idea

Successful Conclusion of the "Your Game is My Idea" Hackathon Doha - Al-Raya: Qatar Youth Hostels, in partnership with the "Studio 5/6" initiative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, concluded the "Your Game is My Idea" hackathon, dedicated to the 13-17 age group. The five-day event, held from September 14th to 18th, saw the participation of 1,000 young men and women. The hackathon focused on video game design through programming and interactive design, aiming to promote Qatari culture and encourage innovation. Participants presented creative ideas for innovative tourism and heritage games that contribute to the advancement of both the tourism and technology sectors. The program included several stages, beginning with brainstorming and idea formulation, progressing through learning game mechanics and programming techniques, culminating in the creation of characters and interactive environments, followed by game programming and testing before presenting them to the judging panel. In her speech at the closing ceremony, Nouf Abdulaziz Al-Hamdan emphasized that Studio 5/6's participation in organizing the hackathon comes within the framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's efforts to develop the digital skills of Qatari youth. This is achieved by providing an interactive learning environment that enhances their capabilities and enables them to gain practical experience in developing digital games that reflect Qatari identity, thus solidifying their readiness for a promising digital future. For its part, Qatar Youth Hostels indicated that these initiatives reflect its keenness to encourage young people to engage in the fields of tourism and technology, and to invest their talents in innovative projects that contribute to developing their skills and enhancing their role as active participants in various aspects of life. The competitions resulted in the game "of the Peninsula" winning first place in this edition.
