Worth of a Fifteen-Hundred-Riyal Award, Qatar Youth Hostels to Launch an Online Contest

On the first days of Ramadan, Qatar Youth Hostels (QYH) Association started off an online cultural contest on its account @qataryha on Instagram and Twitter. The contest is held to define the Qatar legacy and heritage landmarks to young people in order to spur them to partake, search and learn to get the answers to the questions and quizzes during the Holy Month. Every three days, results of the inquiries on the heritage and promotion of the Qatari identity on social networking will be announced online.

According to the Association, the contest conditions involve that answers should be submitted and accepted through private messaging. One question is posed every three days. Contestants have to Follow QYH to get their posts accepted. Additionally, two real accounts of the contestant’s friends must be mentioned. Moreover, Qatari nationals and residents may only participate in this contest.

A prize of QAR 500 is for the winner of the draw for each single question, as pointed out by QYH Association. Through the questions, the Association can inspire legacy and the meanings of the archaic terminology on the crafts of our ancestors, recently heading towards obliteration due to modernity. Out of QYH dedication, this legacy must be restored and revived within its vision and mission to promote and renew the Qatari identity.

In collaboration with the Qatar Network on Twitter, QYH Association has launched another contest for introducing its activities, role and community mission. Questions of this second contest are also scheduled every three days, with outstandingly valuable motives for the contestants.

Another Snapchat contest is run on the account of Mr. Ibrahim Al Ajlan, including inquiries on the legacy and the old-fashioned Ramadan customs in Qatar.

Through its contests, programs and multiple activities, QYH Association is always in relentless pursuit of promoting the heritage of the Qataris, along with evocating and reviving the history of the ancestors through different means. According to the Association, the impact of the current social media as a strong magnet of millions of followers and friends, along with the easy-as-pie interaction and participation, was the main drive for selecting media channels as a means of enriching the heritage life through these information-rich contests.
